Papercrafts 2008-2012 by XenonRay Papercrafts 2008-2012 by XenonRay
I was thinking the other day, that I might do a group picture of all of my models I've built over the past 4 years. Most live in shoe boxes or in the wardrobe, with only my newer big ones on display. So I was quite giddy to see them all out at once.

Papercrafts, papercrafts everywhere! I don't want to guess how many sheets were used for these things, even not counting test prints and rebuilds. All I know is I've bought 3 reams of 160gsm in as many years, and an unspecified amount of 180/200gsm on top of that. Recycle your scraps and left overs kids!

For scale, the big back row ones are between 40-49cm.

Uh lets see, Back Row:
Nephenee, Haar, Lucia, Tali, Liara, Garrus, Shepard, Mordin, Midna

Back Middle: WW Floormaster, Link & Epona, Aveil, Anju, 'Endgame' Link, Saria, Prof. Shikashi, Adult Malon, Young Malon, Poe Collector, Rauru, Postman, Guru Guru, Zora v2, Zora v1, Elegy Zora, Manny.

Front Middle: Mad Scrub, Lake Scientist, Grog, Saria, Poe, Deku Guards, Skull Kid, Dead Hand, Toto, Stalchild, Elegy Link, Elegy Deku, SSB Samus.

Front Row: Hylian Shield, Mirror Shield, Hover & Iron Boots, Megaton Hammer, Master Sword, Gerudo Sword, Venomian Tank, Snowspeeder, Broken Giant's Knife, Predator Pistol, Postman's Letter, Arwing, Majora's Mask, Bolse Defence Outpost, Grog's Bag, AT-PT, Gossip Stone, Master Sword in Pedestal, Boss Key, MM and OoT Chests.

The majority are designed by me, with about 14 being other people's templates. This pic doesn't include test/fail builds or other models that have since fallen apart.

The face of Lucia and Haar seem rather odd, but the Nephenee one came out beautiful~<3 You need the Black Knight though. :giggle: Though that would be hard to do. XD;
The whole Mass Effect ones came out perfect, and I love the LoZ crew. You just nailed my favourite games here. Now if you Excuse me, I'm going to go hunt down all the templates for these. *A*

I'll concede the point about Lucia as I consider that one of my worst ones. Something about the design looking ok on screen but suffering from wacky proportions when built in real life. Haar isn't as bad :p but overall there are some discrepancies between the in game models and the character artwork for Radiant Dawn. Unfortunately I think I'm past the point of doing any more Fire Emblem stuff...

Thank you, the ME ones in general I feel are good templates. All ME ones are listed on my deviantArt gallery while most of the LoZ models can be found on the Nintendo Papercraft or Hyrule Papercraft blogs.

Thanks! :D

I designed most of these templates myself by ripping 3D models from the games.

I found some models online, I just wish I knew how to rip from games, and how to make patterns...
Or how to papercraft, for that matter xD

Thanks, I'm very happy with the Link model. Lucia...eh...looks nice as the 3d model but fails when it comes to paper form- not one of my best. :/

Hi, first off... amazing work on the paper models!!! I build smallish paper models and I know they are pretty hard to get right... did you design the snowspeeder? Where can I get it? It looks great!!!

The Snowspeeder and AT-PT were designed by Momir Farooq over here: [link]

Looks like he's updated the textures on the speeder at some point.

All practice really, which isn't to understate the amount of time spent on these! Get the correct tools and materials, start small, simple and angular, then move on to big, detailed and smooth built!

I really need to make some of these.... The last time I did one it came it more or less okay. - [link]

I'd probably start small. Something like the Arwing or AT-PT (Due to my LOVE of Rogue Squadron  First game I ever played!! :la: )

This is amazing work :D

From the photo that looks alright!

Small can mean awkward though- that AT-PT is less than 5cm tall! The Arwing was one of my early ones from Navi's Papercraft site. The template is hard and pretty un-optimised by current standards, though looks great when done. Mine's rock hard from all the glue used :/

Rogue Squadron was brilliant! A new HD version would be a sure seller- I really don't know why Lucas Arts haven't had another pop at it on modern consoles.

Thanks  I used Games Workshop Citadel superglue (usually for warhammer models) and that worked out nicely. But I'll need to buy another pot of it before I attempt anything else.

I see what you mean. I'll have a look at the files for a model before I try to make it, just to be sure. Hahah, I know the feeling! I had to wash my hands of the glue like a dozen times in my last attempt!

I know right?! Frankly Lucasarts needs better management. Why? For not pursuing the following projects:

-Rogue Squadron remake
-Republic Commando 2
-Empire at War 2
-Battlefront 3 (I don't care what anyone says. It's NEVER going to happen. The company sank and the programmers got hired by Bioware. I'm guessing the project sank because of those crappy PSP battlefront games that likely never turned a profit.)
