King's Finest by XenonRay King's Finest by XenonRay
I'm still in somewhat of a Napoleonic phase though not as much as a few months ago. Here's a soldier of the British Coldstream Guards, standing a bit away from everyone else.

You, back in formation!

But drawing endless ranks of men isn't always my idea of fun. I tried in 2009 here: [link] which was alright but took ages. Also I know this has a similar theme to some NTW promo screenshots, not surprisingly the Coldstream one (except it's from a completely different angle of course).

I do like painting faces. It takes a while but I find it's the best judgement of any improvement in skill. Trouble is mine all look similar so I've gone to some effort to make him look older than usual. And, it turned out pretty decent for my standards. (opinion subject to change in a few months time no doubt!)

Edit: Altered one of the hands a bit, added some mud stains

This, my good sir, is amazing! I love all the little details you put in, from the scene in the background to the stains on the soldier.

I agree with you, drawing giant crowds is not entertaining at all. I can never find the patience to draw people after people, so 1 character is the limit on my drawings.

Cheers Kupo!

The guys in the background are very simple, if they were any closer I don't think I could cheat the details like I've done here!

From a "Napoleon: Total War" fan: this is spectacular! I like the bright colours and the smoky effect. The details on him are splendid.
Way to go!

Everything about this is amazing.. The texture on the gun, the folds and wrinkles on his clothing, even the battle scene in the background! I spent well over a minute just looking at the little things in this image. There's one thing I noticed, though, that needs a little work. The way you did his right hand makes it look a little weird. Maybe it's because his thumb can't be seen, so it looks like it's missing. I think it would look much better if you showed some of his thumb around or behind the gun. :) Other than that, I think it looks great!
